Hair Loss – Causes and Treatment

Hair Loss – Causes and Treatment

Hair loss can occur on your scalp or even the rest of the body. It can be both permanent or temporary. There are several different hair loss causes; while some are temporary and reversible, a few are permanent. Here, in this article, we will discuss hair loss causes and treatment methods.

Causes of hair loss

1. Hereditary hair loss
Both women and men tend to develop this kind of hair loss. It is the most prevalent cause of hair loss. When you have this type of hair loss, you have inherited genes that trigger the shrinking of the hair loss, and after a point, hair stops growing. Though shrinking starts in the teens, it may also occur in the later stages of life. In this, treatment is possible, and the earlier you start it, the better it works.

2. Age
As hair growth slows down over time, hair loss may be experienced as you grow older. After a while, the hair follicles may stop growing altogether. This can make the hair grow thinner. If caught early, you can slow down the hair loss process.

3. Alopecia areata
It is a disease that occurs when the body’s immune system attacks the hair follicles and leads to hair loss. If the hair starts growing back on its own, you can use the apt treatment for regrowth.

4. Cancer treatment
Those who undergo radiation treatment or chemotherapy on the neck or head may also lose some or most of their hair within the first few weeks of treatment. Hair growth will start within months of the last chemotherapy or radiation session. To prevent hair loss, you can wear a cooling cap before, after, and during the session.

5. Childbirth, illness, or other stressors
A few months after you deliver a baby or recover from an illness or have an operation, you may notice hair fall on the pillow or the brush. It may also happen as an outcome of stress. Once you stop stressing out, hair growth will start again.

Treatment for hair loss

1. Massage
Massaging the scalp can be a great way to stimulate hair growth. You can use hair masks and hair oils and gently massage them into the scalp.

2. Amla
Amla, also known as Indian gooseberry, is a rich vitamin C source, preventing hair pigmentation. To stimulate hair growth, take two teaspoons of amla powder or juice with lime juice, apply the mixture to your hair, and let it sit for about twenty minutes. You can wash it with warm water and follow it up with a mild shampoo.

3. Coconut milk
There is a good reason why most conditioners and shampoos are coconut-based. Coconut has excellent moisturizing abilities. Sadly, the prime cause of hair loss is a damaged scalp because of dryness. To reverse the damage resulting from dryness and make the hair follicles healthy, you need to massage the coconut milk in the roots and let it sit for ten minutes.

So, these are some of the common hair loss causes and treatment options.
